BLS Training for Ambulance Drivers | SH Medical Centre Hospital
Jan 18, 2026
Effective emergency medical services begin long before a patient reaches the theatre. On January 18, 2026, SH Medical Centre Hospital took a significant step in community safety by hosting an intensive BLS training for ambulance drivers in the hospital auditorium.
Expert-Led Life Support Training
The session was spearheaded by Dr. Santhosh Zachariah, Head of Department and Critical Care Anesthesiologist. Given his expertise in critical care, the training provided participants with high-level insights into life-saving manoeuvres, ensuring that the “Golden Hour” of patient care is utilised to its full potential.
The programme opened with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Soumya Naveen, setting a professional tone for the day’s educational objectives.
Empowering Our First Responders
A total of 47 ambulance drivers participated in this exclusive session. This training was specifically curated for them, focusing on:
-
High-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
-
Effective use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
-
Rapid assessment of critically ill patients during transport.
The seamless execution of the event was managed by the PROs of SH Medical Centre Hospital, who coordinated the logistics to ensure every driver received hands-on experience.
A Successful Conclusion
To wrap up the successful session, the Food and Beverage team provided refreshments to all 47 participants. This training underscores SH Medical Centre’s commitment to clinical excellence and its mission to empower the local healthcare workforce with essential Basic Life Support (BLS) skills.
