Wellness Centre

As part of our commitment to providing quality healthcare in the remote villages of Kottayam, SHMC established a rural community health centre — the “SHMC Wellness Clinic” — at Kanjirathumoodu. This is our first rural health centre and one of the four dream projects for the societies, envisioned to be set up around SH Medical Centre, in the year 2020.

The centre offers compassionate and dedicated services to the local residents. A key highlight of the clinic is its palliative unit, which is staffed by a team of trained and experienced professionals. We provide free or subsidized treatment to deserving patients, ensuring that quality care is accessible to all.

The Palliative & Hospice Care Department at SHMC plays a crucial role not only in caring for terminally ill patients but also in offering deep emotional and spiritual support to their families. This holistic approach is extended both in hospital and home settings, bringing comfort and dignity to those in need.

Recognizing the growing healthcare needs of the rural folk of the Kumarakom and to ensure accessible, affordable and high-quality medical care for the local community, SHMC took a significant step by inaugurating a sub-centre at Pallichira on 11th February 2021.

The facility offers a range of services, including both outpatient (OP) and inpatient (IP) care, allowing patients to receive comprehensive treatment close to home. It is staffed by a dedicated team of skilled and compassionate doctors committed to delivering exceptional care.

Beyond primary healthcare, the sub-centre is equipped with essential support services such as doctor consultation, diagnostic laboratory, fully stocked pharmacy, and specialized palliative care for individuals living with chronic illnesses.

As part of its ongoing mission to expand access to quality healthcare across Kottayam, SHMC inaugurated a new clinic in the Aymanam region on 17th November 2023. This initiative was undertaken with a focus on serving the underprivileged and marginalized communities who often face barriers to essential medical care.

The clinic is designed to deliver comprehensive and quality healthcare services, operating 24/7 to provide both outpatient (OP) and inpatient (IP) care. This ensures that residents have access to timely medical attention, regardless of the time of day or night.

Equipped with key diagnostic services, the clinic enables accurate evaluations and swift treatment decisions. An in-house pharmacy enhances patient convenience by offering immediate access to prescribed medications, eliminating the need for additional travel.

Through this dedicated effort, SHMC has significantly strengthened healthcare accessibility in Aymanam—improving health outcomes and promoting a stronger sense of safety and well-being within the community.

At SH Medical Centre, our Child Development Day Care Unit supports the overall growth of children aged 2 to 6 through structured programs and engaging activities. Open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the unit focuses on enhancing both mental and physical development in a nurturing environment. Our programs improve attention span, concentration, language skills, and social interaction through preschool learning and guided play.

In addition, we emphasize social development through peer group activities that encourage interaction, relationship building, and essential social skills in a warm, supportive setting.
