The Sacred Heart Mission Hospital (SHMC) celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and joy in collaboration with the Lions Club and Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing (TCN). The day was filled with vibrant activities, competitions, and celebrations that highlighted the creativity, talent, and spirit of young children.

The festivities began at 8:00 a.m. in the SH Auditorium with a drawing competition, which saw active participation from children across three age categories:

• Category 1 (up to 5 years): Underwater World
• Category 2 (ages 6–10): Save Earth
• Category 3 (ages 11–15): Peace Posters – Together as One

This was followed by an elocution competition designed to inspire young minds, with topics including Life and Legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, and My Day and My Right across the respective age groups. A colorful fashion show added excitement and charm to the event, bringing smiles to both participants and spectators.

The official programme commenced at 11:00 a.m. with a prayer song by the SH Choir. Mrs. Akhila Balachandran, Assistant Professor, TCN, delivered the welcome address, followed by the presidential address by Rev. Sr. Jeena Rose SH, Director, SH Medical Centre. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Binsy Sebastian, Chairperson, Kottayam Municipality, who also delivered the inaugural address.

Special addresses were delivered by Ln. MJF Prince Scaria, Past District Governor, Lions District 318B, and Dr. Anju Maria Sebastian, Assistant Professor, Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences.

The highlight of the day was the recognition of Kumari Abhiya Ann Jiji, Gold Medal Winner in Athletics, as the Champion of the Day. Dr. Jacob George, Senior Paediatrician, SH Medical Centre, and Ln. Madhu M. V., District Principal Advisor, felicitated her for her remarkable achievements.

The celebration concluded with the distribution of prizes by Sr. Joice Maria SH, HR Manager, followed by a delicious meal served to all participants and guests.

The event beautifully reflected the spirit of joy, unity, and inspiration, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talents and celebrating childhood. It was truly a memorable Children’s Day celebration at SHMC.
