On october 10, 2025. SH Medical Centre (SHMC), in collaboration with Thiruhridaya College of Nursing, observed World Mental Health Day with a series of engaging and awareness-driven events. The programme began with a prayer song by nursing students, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Jitty George, Consultant Psychiatrist, and a presidential address by Sr. Jeena Rose SH, Director of SHMC.

The event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Rajalekshmi, President of IMA Kottayam, who stressed the importance of accessible mental health services during emergencies. Dr. Kurian Xavier, Medical Superintendent, offered felicitations and praised the initiative.

Students from Thiruhridaya College of Nursing presented a theme-based play and dance depicting the challenges of mental health crises. Sr. Lissamol T. George, Psychologist, delivered the day’s message focusing on the theme “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.” The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Saina Chachu Jose, Psychologist at SHMC.

The event highlighted the importance of collective action in promoting mental health awareness and ensuring accessible care for all.
