
World Diabetes Day Marked with Grand Community Celebration by SH Medical Centre

SH Medical Centre, in collaboration with the Lions Club, Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing, and KVM College, celebrated World Diabetes Day with vibrant community participation and a series of engaging awareness activities.
The day began at 8:00 AM with a Diabetic Walk from Gandhi Square (Thirunakara) to SH Medical Centre. The walk witnessed enthusiastic participation and drew the attention of onlookers along the route. A diabetes awareness flash mob at Nagampadam Bus Stand added colour to the event, spreading messages on healthy living and diabetes prevention before the rally concluded at the hospital with refreshments.
The formal function commenced at 9:30 AM with a prayer song by the SHMC Choir, followed by a warm welcome from Sr. Jaisy Liz, Nursing Superintendent, SH Medical Centre. Sr. Jeena Rose, Director, SH Medical Centre, delivered the presidential address.
The event was officially inaugurated by Sri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, Kottayam, with Lion Winny Philip, District Governor of Lions District 318B , serving as the chief guest.
The programme featured multiple highlights, including:
- A dynamic flash mob by the Department of Nursing, SHMC
- A theme message by Jesline Mary, Vice Principal, Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing
- Special addresses by Lion Jacob Joseph, 1st VDG, and Lion Martin Francis, 2nd VDG, Lions District 318B
- An energetic flash mob performance by KVM College students
Felicitations were extended to Dr. Kurian Xavier, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Sreejith M.G., Senior Consultant Physician & Diabetologist, SHMC; and Lions MJF Madhu M.V., Shajilal, and Rameshkumar M.P.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Saumya Naveen, Manager – Marketing & Front Office, SH Medical Centre.
The celebration proved to be a resounding success, effectively promoting diabetes awareness and underscoring the significance of collective efforts in fostering community health and well-being.
