Kottayam, 27th September 2025 — SH Medical Centre (SHMC) had the distinguished honor of welcoming His Eminence Cardinal Mar George Koovakkattu on September 27th at 11:00 a.m. The Cardinal blessed and inaugurated the newly established Gastroenterology Department, situated on the 2nd floor of K Block, previously the site of the old Oncology Department.

The special occasion was graced by the presence of all SHMC staff and sisters from the convents, beginning with a warm reception near the Hospital Chapel. Following the blessing ceremony, the inauguration of the new Endoscopy Department was held, marking a significant upgrade in the hospital’s medical services.

To honor His Eminence, a small meet-up and get-together was organized in the hospital auditorium, providing an opportunity for staff and guests to express their heartfelt gratitude.
