
SHMC Launches “Nenjoram – SH Sakhi” Initiative to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

The Sacred Heart Medical College (SHMC), in collaboration with the Snehita Women’s Health Foundation, launched a new women’s health initiative titled “Nejoram – SH Sakhi” aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and screening. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from sisters and women from various communities, with all screening and awareness activities offered free of cost.
The inaugural function commenced at 10:00 AM with a welcome address by Dr. Jisha T. U. (Chief Operating Officer, SHMC), followed by the presidential address from Sr. Jeena Rose SH (Director, SHMC). The chief guest, Dr. Reji Paul (Director, Snehita Women’s Health Foundation), delivered an inspiring message highlighting the importance of early detection and women’s wellness. Smt. Vincy Alosious, renowned film actress, inaugurated the event and appreciated SHMC’s commitment to empowering women through health initiatives.
The SH Sakhi theme song was launched during the programme, followed by a special address by Mrs. Chinu Mathew (Entrepreneur and Fashion Enthusiast), who spoke on women’s empowerment and self-care. A benedictory message was given by Sr. Little Flower SH (Associate Director – General), and Sr. Litty Abraham SH (Assistant Director – Finance) delivered the vote of thanks.
A lively cake-mixing ceremony, led by the chief guest and team, added a festive touch to the occasion. The Department of Nursing presented an energetic flash mob, creatively spreading the message of breast cancer awareness. The event concluded with an informative awareness class by Dr. Reji Paul, who discussed early detection methods, self-examination techniques, and the importance of timely screening.
The programme was a resounding success, fostering awareness, unity, and hope among women and truly embodying the spirit of “SH Sakhi – Empowering Women through Health and Harmony.”
