
SH Medical Centre Celebrates Onam with Grandeur and Unity

4th September 2025, SH Medical Centre Auditorium – The spirit of Onam came alive at SH
Medical Centre as staff and management came together to celebrate the festival with great
enthusiasm, unity, and cultural pride. The event, held in the hospital auditorium, showcased a
beautiful blend of tradition, togetherness, and joy.
The celebration began at 11:00 AM with the traditional Onam Sadhya, a sumptuous feast that
brought together all staff members in the true spirit of the harvest festival. The cultural programs commenced at 1:30 PM, adding colour and vibrancy to the occasion.
The festivities were officially inaugurated by Rev. Sr. Jeena Rose, Director of SH Medical
Centre, whose warm presence added grace to the event. One of the highlights of the celebration was the Malayali Manka Fancy Dress Competition, where participants portrayed the rich cultural heritage and elegance of Kerala.
In a touching moment, Rev. Sr. Catherine Joseph S.H., Provincial Superior of St. Matthew’s
Province, addressed the gathering with a heartfelt speech emphasizing the deep-rooted values and cultural significance of Onam, and the importance of unity in diversity.
The afternoon was filled with traditional games and activities such as Vadam Vali (Tug of
War) and Uriyadi (Pot Breaking), which brought laughter, energy, and spirited participation
from staff members across all departments.
The Onam celebration was a resounding success, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among the SH Medical Centre family. It was a day that beautifully reflected the essence of Onam — joy, prosperity, and the unity of hearts
