
International Women’s Day Celebrated with ‘Tejiswani 2026’ at SH Medical Centre

SH Medical Centre celebrated International Women’s Day on 6 March 2026 with a series of
vibrant programmes under the theme “Tejiswani 2026 – Give to Gain.” The celebrations
highlighted the spirit of empowerment, selfless service, and the vital role of women in healthcare
and society.
The programme began with a two-wheeler rally organized by the women staff of the hospital,
which was flagged off at 9:00 AM by Ms. Saranya V. S., Sub Inspector of Police, East Police
Station. The rally symbolized unity, strength, and the active participation of women in
community life.
Following the rally, the official Women’s Day celebration meeting commenced at 10:00 AM.
The programme began with a prayer song by the SHMC Choir Team, followed by a welcome
address by Mrs. Neenu P. James, Manager – HR. The presidential address was delivered by
Rev. Sr. Jeena Rose SH, Director of SH Medical Centre, who spoke about the importance of
women’s contributions in both society and the healthcare sector.
The inaugural address and lamp lighting ceremony were conducted by Mrs. Maria Dominic,
Social Media Influencer, symbolizing the light of knowledge and inspiration. On the occasion,
the Annual Magazine of SH Medical Centre was officially released by Rev. Sr. Alice
Manianghatt SH, Principal of Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing, showcasing the institution’s
achievements and milestones.
The programme also featured words of appreciation by Dr. Suan Joseph, Senior Consultant
Gynecologist, and a special address by Dr. Chithra C. Nair, Professor and Head of the
Department, KVM College of Pharmacy, who inspired participants to strive for professional
excellence and dedication.
As part of the event, Ms. Sania Chachu Jose, Psychologist, delivered an awareness talk, while
students from KVM College of Pharmacy presented an energetic flash mob performance,
adding enthusiasm to the celebration. Senior women staff members from various departments
were also honoured with ponnada in recognition of their long-standing dedication and valuable
service to the institution.
In connection with the Women’s Day celebrations, SH Medical Centre also organized a free
breast screening programme for all female staff under the SH Sakhi Programme,
promoting awareness about women’s health and the importance of early detection of breast-
related diseases. The screening sessions were conducted on 21 February, 26 February, 4
March, and 5 March 2026, enabling many staff members to benefit from the initiative.
The Tejiswani 2026 celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Swapna Narayanan
Nair, Quality Nurse, followed by refreshments, leaving participants inspired to uphold the spirit
of the theme “Give to Gain.”
