On 8 December 2025, SH Medical Centre reached a new milestone in diagnostic and surgical excellence. A formal blessing ceremony, led by Rev. Fr. Jacob Vattakattu of Lourdes Forane Church, marked the inauguration of several high-tech upgrades designed to enhance patient outcomes and diagnostic precision.

Advanced Diagnostic Imaging: The Adonis Digital X-ray

A major highlight of the expansion is the newly commissioned Digital X-ray Unit (Adonis 630 mA, 50 kW). Relocated to the former Endoscopy Unit for better patient flow, this 50 kW system represents a leap forward in imaging technology.

Benefits of the new Digital X-ray include:

• Superior Image Clarity: Enabling more accurate and rapid patient evaluations.

• Reduced Radiation: Modern digital sensors ensure safety without compromising quality.

• Efficiency: Faster processing times for both inpatient and outpatient services.

Elevating Surgical Precision: Laminar OT and CUSA

The hospital has also upgraded its surgical infrastructure to meet global sterility standards. The ceremony included the blessing of the renovated Laminar Operation Theatre.

The Laminar Flow system provides a continuous, filtered airflow that significantly reduces the risk of post-operative infections, creating one of the safest surgical environments in the region.

The CUSA – Sonoca 300 Integration

Furthering our surgical capabilities, SH Medical Centre has introduced the Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA – Sonoca 300, Söring GmbH). This highly specialised ultrasonic tool is essential for:

• Precision in complex neurosurgery and liver resections.

• Minimising blood loss during delicate tissue dissection.

• Enhanced safety for patients undergoing intricate surgical procedures.
