1968 March 19Started a Cancer Institute at Kottayam Town in a rented building. Which was blessed by Arch Bishop Mar Mathew Kavukattu and inaugurated by Hon. Health Minister Mr. Willington.
1969 September 21Started S.H.Medical Centre at Nagampadom in a new building and it was blessed and inaugurated by Arch Bishop Mar Mathew Kavukattu.
1970 JUNE 1Started Maternity department named as Madona Nursing Centre at Chunkam.
1971 September 21Foundation stone laid for new building (P1, P2) by Rev.Fr.L.J.Chittoor.
1972 October 1Bishop Dr. Cornelius Elanjikkal inaugurated the new building and blessed by Arch bishop Mar Antony Padiyara
1976Foundation stone for new building was laid by Mar Cornelius Elanjikal.
1976Cancer Institute became the part of Medical Centre.
1977 July 3 Inauguration and blessing of New building (OP, M1, M2) done by Arch Bishop Mar Antony Padiyara.
1987Inauguration of New blocks (J, T, M, and OT).
1994Started S.H. School of Nursing.
1994Celebrated Silver Jubilee of S.H. Medical Centre.
2014S H Heart Institute was upgraded to diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology which was Inaugurated by Shri.Ramesh Chennithala Minister of Home affairs .
2015BSc Nursing Programme Started with a strength of 40 Student in each batch
2015S H Lions-Blood bank was inaugurated by Shri Oommen Chandy, Honarable Chief Minister of Kerala
2016 Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing was officialy Inaugurated by Shri Oommen Chandy, Honarable Chief Minister of Kerala.
2019S H Medical Centre has received pre-accreditation entry level NABH certificate from National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health care providers.
2019 November Started a Blood Collection Centre @ Vadavathoor for the convenience of Rural Public.
2020Started a Rural Clinic at Payyapadi in January 2021which gives more emphasis on preventive aspect of health.
2020 MarchRapid Action Clinic started to detect Covid-19 positive cases..
2020 July 1Telemedicine Service Launched.
2020 August 15A new Project called “Hrudaya Kiran”- a welfare scheme launched at SHMC, exclusively for the treatment purpose of BPL Cardholders, for providing holistic healing experience at an affordable rate.

2021 January 12 A new Cardiology Launch was inaugurated, donated by Mother Therese Home in memory of Rev Dr. Antony Mannarkulam.
2021 January 12S H Medical Centre is officially recognised as the “Approved Training Centre of National Skill Development Corporation” and has received the Certificate- A mark of recognition as an approved centre of N S D C .
2021To cater to the health needs of rural People, S H Medical Centre started two rural Clinics,one in Kanjirathummood, Puthupally and a second one at Pallichira, Kumarakom on January 9’th & 11’th February respectively.

2021 November 4 “ Mithram” Pharmacy Inaugurated exclusively for Gynec and Paediatric patients. This reduced the rush in the Main Pharmacy.

2021 December 22started Oncology Department at SHMC. Revitalisation of “SH Cancer Institute of 1969 is done and once again rolled out the cancer services in the renovated K2 ward and renamed as” SHMC Cancer Centre”
2022 March 16the newly built ICU, Chemotherapy Unit and Day Care of “SH Cancer Centre” is inaugurated by His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottham, the Metropolitan Archbishop, Archeparchy of Changanasserry. Team of doctors joined are Dr Murali Appukuttan, gastro onco surgeon, Dr Rony Benson, medical oncologist, DrAnu n Josep, gynec oncologist, Dr Ashwin interventional radiologist and Dr.Daliya Thomas ,clinical oncologist.
2022 April 1stSHMC Rural Wellness centre Kumarakom relocated to Apsara Junction with added facilities.It was inaugurated by Shri V N Vasavan , Minister for Cooperation and registration.
2022 April 7Theertham Campaign is inaugurated to commemorate the 150th Birth day of our founder father Venerable Fr Mathew Kadalikkattil. As part of this programme, SHMC has decided to conduct 150 medical camps for the rural folk.
2022 April 30SHMC New Academic wing “Mary Land” located at the roof top portion of the Administrative block is blessed.
